The series Equivocal is everyday yet exotic, creating a complex world through different viewpoints and the passage of time. Photographed by Katrín Elvarsdóttir over the course of several years as she searched Iceland, Hungary, Poland and Italy for similar settings and moods, the images are all taken from real life, though they seem to belong to an unknown reality.
Katrín Elvarsdóttir (b. 1964) graduated with a BFA in photography from the Art Institute of Boston in 1993. She was nominated for the Deutsche Börse Photographic Prize in 2009 for her exhibition Equivocal.
